African history to be taught in South African Schools

The teaching of African history is to be included in Azania’s (South Africa) education curriculum as part of a new strategy to encourage Pan African unity.
Education Minister Angelina Motshekga announced the plans as a response to recent economic driven attacks target against mostly other African ‘refugees’ living in the southern region of the Continent.
The announcment took place at a meeting organised by the Tunis-based education think-tank, the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA).
She announced the plans had been initiated plans to teach a proper perspective on the role that the continent played in helping the country to fight an oppressive regime and end apartheid to young minds.
Teachers would be provided new manuals and learning materials for use in schools, to help students understand the rights of refugees and other human rights issues.
Motshekga revealed “The curriculum includes a greater focus on South Africa within the African continent, particularly through the social science and history curricula which include a strong focus on African history,”
