In Omaha, Nebraska on 28 September 1919 a mob of over five thousand Americans surrounded and attacked a county court house and seized an innocent African American accused of assaulting a ‘white’ girl. The mob mutilated him, shooting him over a thousand times before burning his body. Subsequently there were twenty five major race riots across the US in the last six months of 1919.
